dear 16 year old me,
you're a sophmore in high school. how's that going for ya? probably not to fun, huh? don't stress. you and larissa will be friends again. also, don't ever get mixed up with joee. she will hit your friend with a car. don't worry about courtney barton, she is currently serving a mission and changing the world. you haven't been asked to any dances, and you will graduate the same way. don't let it get you down. life will be throwing you some curve balls this summer. but you won't strike out, no matter how many times you feel like it. you are stronger than you think. don't take for granted your entire family living under the same roof. cherish being able to talk to courtney while you both get ready for school. laugh when she sneaks into the bathroom when you're showering instead of yelling. you will miss that. remember that agruement you got into with your dad last night? knock it off. stop being a brat. you're dad is amazing. and will one day be your best friend and confident. you will meet a boy one day who will love and appreciate you for exactly who you are. and you know your dream? that silly one you've had for years to one day live in North Carolina? Well, guess what, you're living it! and you love it. you have some hardcore trials coming your way in the next few years. but you make it out in one piece and life will go on. go to church every sunday, mutual every tuesday and seminary every day. it will keep you on the straight and narrow and be your light in a very dark world. let your testimony strengthen, never let it diminish. get your own testimony right now. it will be your only rock one day and will never fail you. smile a lot, you don't do it nearly enough. stop thinking of happiness as a destination. it is only a mood, it is not permanent. it comes and goes, it is a condition. if you start thinking of it that way, you will find happiness a lot more often. live every day to the fullest. you will grow up fast. life changes even faster. don't ever let yourself forget your strength. and one more thing, don't quit basketball. oh and take precalc your senior year. it will make transferring colleges one day a lot easier. go play with little mckell, she will be 13 before you know it. and give kendall a gigantic hug, one day he will think he is too much of the shiz and a hug won't be as easy. see you soon!! i love you.

sincerely, (almost) 21 year old you
